Unlock PDF

Unlock PDF removes password protection from a document when you supply the correct password, producing a copy that opens without prompting; it cannot crack or bypass a password you do not know.

About Unlock PDF

Encrypted PDFs are a nuisance once they have served their purpose. Bank statements, payslips and insurance documents often arrive locked with a password derived from your date of birth or account number, and typing it every single time you open the file gets old fast. Give the password once here and you get back an ordinary PDF you can archive, search and print freely.

Be clear about the limit: this tool decrypts using the password you provide. It does not guess, brute-force or defeat encryption, and no amount of waiting will change that. If you have lost the password, the file cannot be opened here, and any service claiming otherwise for a strongly encrypted PDF is overstating what it can do. Only unlock documents you have the right to access.

How to unlock pdf

  1. Upload the password-protected PDF you want to unlock.
  2. Enter the correct password for the document in the field provided.
  3. Click the unlock button to decrypt the file.
  4. Download the unlocked PDF, which now opens without a password prompt.

Why use this tool

Password removed properly

The output is a genuinely decrypted PDF rather than a viewer trick, so it opens without a prompt in every reader, on every device.

Content preserved

Text, images, bookmarks and form fields come through unchanged. Only the encryption layer is stripped, so quality and file size stay as they were.

Nothing retained

Your password is used for the decryption and then discarded. The file is deleted from our server within an hour, and no account is required.

Frequently asked questions

Can this open a PDF whose password I have forgotten?
No. The tool decrypts with the password you supply and has no way to recover or guess one. There is no bypass and no hidden crack feature. If the password is genuinely lost, try the source that issued the document, since they can usually reissue or resend it.
Why remove a password at all?
Convenience and preservation. A password you retype daily wastes time, and a password stored nowhere reliable is a good way to lose access to an archive years later. Once a statement is inside your own encrypted drive or backup, the per-file password adds friction rather than protection.
Is it legal to unlock a PDF?
It is your document to unlock when you own it or hold the password legitimately, such as a statement addressed to you. Removing protection from someone else's confidential file, or from material you are not authorised to access, is not acceptable and may well be unlawful.
Will the content or quality change?
No. Decryption removes the security layer without touching page content, so text stays selectable, images are not recompressed and bookmarks survive. The unlocked file is byte-for-byte equivalent in content to the protected original, just without the password requirement.
Do you store my password?
No. It is held in memory only for the moment the decryption runs, then discarded. It is never written to a log or a database. The uploaded and unlocked files are removed from our server within one hour, and nothing about them is kept afterwards.
