PDF to Word

PDF to Word converts a text-based PDF into an editable DOCX, ODT or RTF document using LibreOffice, reconstructing paragraphs and formatting from the positioned text in the file.

About PDF to Word

Use this when you need to change wording rather than just read a document: updating a contract clause, reusing an old proposal, or lifting a report into a template. The conversion runs through LibreOffice on our server, so you get a genuine Word file rather than a PDF renamed. Expect to tidy the result before sending it on.

The honest caveat is structural. A PDF stores glyphs at coordinates, not paragraphs, so any converter has to infer where a heading ends and a column begins. Single-column reports, letters and CVs convert cleanly. Magazine layouts, heavy tables and multi-column academic papers will need manual repair afterwards. This is a property of the PDF format itself, not of any one tool.

Why use this tool

Genuinely editable output

Text arrives as real characters in real paragraphs, so you can edit, search and restyle it directly in Word rather than wrestling with images.

Three document formats

Export DOCX for Microsoft Word, ODT for LibreOffice and OpenOffice, or RTF when you need maximum compatibility with older software.

No watermark or signup

Convert as many files as you like without an account or email address. Nothing is stamped onto your document and nothing is added to it.

Frequently asked questions

Will my formatting survive the conversion?
Simple layouts survive well: body text, headings, bullet lists and basic tables usually come through intact. Complex designs will shift. No converter on the market, including Adobe's, achieves perfect fidelity, because the structure being restored was never stored in the PDF to begin with.
Why is my Word file empty or full of gibberish?
Your PDF is almost certainly a scan, meaning it holds a picture of text with no text layer to extract. Run it through our OCR tool first to generate that text layer, then convert the OCR'd file here. This is the single most common cause of a blank result.
Is this really free with no watermark?
Yes. There is no signup, no trial period, no page cap and nothing stamped on the output. The limit is 50 MB per file. Uploaded documents are processed on our own server and deleted within one hour.
Can I edit the text after converting?
That is the point of the conversion. The DOCX opens in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice Writer with fully editable text. You may need to fix a few line breaks or a stray text box, particularly if the original used an unusual layout.
What happens to my file after conversion?
It is processed on our own server, not sent to a third party, and both the upload and the converted output are deleted automatically within one hour. We do not read, store or index the contents of anything you convert.
